The Northeastern Caribbean’s Biggest Travel Show Just Kicked Off in St Maarten

By: Alexander Britell - April 1, 2025 - 5:35 pm

It’s one of the most essential corners of the Caribbean tourism industry: the northeastern Caribbean, a diverse tapestry of destinations

And their anchor is the twin-island destination of St Maarten/St Martin, which is now hosting the 17th edition of its all-important SMART trade show.

The event, which kicked off at the Sonesta Maho resort this week, brings together tourism, hotel and travel professionals from around the region and the world.

The verdict so far? Strong, with all vendor and supplier booths filled, with delegates coming from a host of Caribbean countries and global source markets ranging from Brazil to Poland.

This year’s show is putting St Maarten in the spotlight as the island continues to see blazing tourism arrival numbers, buoyed by its newly-completed airport transformation.

We were very impressed with the the airport’s look and feel on our recent arrival to Princess Juliana.
