In Dominica, a Different Kind of Safari

By: Caitlin Sullivan - March 21, 2025 - 11:03 am

The volcanoes. The hiking trails The boiling lake. The waterfalls. Dominica is one of the hemisphere’s great adventure destinations. But the story isn’t just on land.

The island’s marine environment is also pristine, whether you’re snorkeling through the geothermal vents at Champagne Reef or heading out for a dive.

But Dominica also has another adventure on offer: a thriving community of whales.

And the island’s top boutique luxury resort has just the itinerary, with a new five-night marine “safari” that includes two days of swimming with whales. That’s along with a river tour, a snorkeling trip, night snorkeling and even beach picnics.

There are just 15 packages in the schedule, across June, July and August.

Of course, Secret Bay is itself worth the trip: the six-star resort is one of the best luxury resorts in the Caribbean, a place we fell in love with on our first visit more than a decade and one that has only gotten better since.
