There’s a New Way to Fly Between the Dominican Republic and the Island of Bonaire
Bonaire has limited nonstop flights from the US. The Dominican Republic has loads. A new flight between the Dutch Caribbean island and Santo Domingo could be a different kind of connection for travelers looking to reach the increasingly popular little island.
Regional carrier Air Century is planning to launch new flights between Bonaire and Santo Domingo, with a start date of June 18.
The flight, which would operate between the capital’s La Isabela airport and Bonaire, would run on Air Century’s 50-seat aircraft.
So how does that help travelers? Well, with limited nonstop options from the mainland US, travelers could fly from the US to Santo Domingo and then connect on the Air Century service to Bonaire.

The new route provides “more options for leisure visitors,” said Elesier Angel, Bonaire’s tourism director.
Flights start at around $199 one way, according to the company.
If you don’t want to go through the DR, you can fly to Bonaire from cities like Miami (on American), New York (on JetBlue) and United out of Newark, New Jersey, among other options.
Bonaire has been seeing sizzling tourism numbers in the last year, driven largely by the entry of JetBlue to the market, which has opened it up to the all-important travel network in the New York Tri-State Area.
