Hilton: Cancun Demand Is Surging, in a Boost for the Mexican Caribbean Hotspot

By: Dana Niland - March 16, 2025 - 6:14 pm

In what could be a very positive portent for the Mexican Caribbean, Hilton says Cancun is seeing a surge in demand, according to a new report from the hotel giant.

Cancun is the second most-searched-for destination on Hilton platforms right now, following Hawaii and just ahead of Orlando.

More broadly, the Caribbean region is the third fastest-growing destination for Hilton, with the company calling it a “trending” international destination. That means it saw the third-largest increase in search year-over-year, as compared to the pre-Spring Break period in 2024.

Hilton has been on a major expansion push in the Caribbean in recent years, one centered on its all-inclusive portfolio, growth that has been centered in Cancun and the Mexican Caribbean market.

Cancun’s airport has been seeing declining numbers in recent months, and the spike on Hilton platform may be a sign of positive things to come.

Are you heading to Cancun right now? You can find flights for as low as $363 from Miami on Spirit right now, and $576 on American Airlines out of New York.

Hilton has a number of properties in the Yucatan; the best is without question the Waldorf-Astoria, Cancun, the only Waldorf in the Caribbean right now, which first opened its doors back in 2022, as Caribbean Journal reported. You can book rooms starting at $589 right now, according to Google Hotels’ data.
