US Virgin Islands Makes Push for New Airlift
The US Virgin Islands has been one of the biggest success stories in the Caribbean when it comes to new airlift in the post-pandemic period.
Buoyed by its class-leading response to the pandemic, the USVI has seen unprecedented levels of both air access and arrivals in the last half decade.
And now the territory is looking to push the envelope, continuing its drive to expand air access at the recent Routes Americas conference in Nassau.
USVI officials held talks with 19 different stakeholders in the industry, including major carriers like American Airlines, Delta, Southwest, Spirit, JetBlue and United, among others.
“Our participation at Routes is instrumental in solidifying relationships with major airlines and furthering our efforts to enhance air access to America’s paradise,” said USVI Tourism Commissioner Joseph Boschulte. “The positive feedback we received from airline representatives underscores our commitment to providing unparalleled travel experiences for visitors to the Territory.”
The talks focused on opening new gateways for high-demand markets, along with strengthening existing routes.
Boschulte was also a panelist on a high-level roundtable on sustainability.
