Avianca Is Adding New Nonstop Flights to Nicaragua From South Florida

By: Dana Niland - February 18, 2025

First, plans for new hotels, now a new nonstop flight. Nicaragua tourism is starting to buzz, and will get a big boost this spring with Avianca’s first-ever flights from Fort Lauderdale.

Beginning May 10, the Colombian carrier will kick off nonstop service between Fort Lauderdale and Managua, with daily flights connecting South Florida with the Central American destination.

The service will operate on Airbus A320s with room for up to 180 passengers. The flight takes about two hours and 40 minutes.

Later this year, Marriott’s City Express brand will be opening its first hotel in Managua, along with two more properties in development in the country, all the first-ever Marriott-branded hotels in Nicaragua.

Avianca has been adding more flights to the region out of Fort Lauderdale, including new routes to Bogota and Medellin.

The flights are already on sale. You can book fares as long as as $227.04 in May, according to Avianca’s website.
