How Does Tourism Respond to Global Challenges? Jamaica Is Exploring Solutions.
Jamaica has been taking the lead in a relatively new field in recent years: tourism resilience, or the way that tourism destinations respond to global shocks, from climate change to pandemics to still-yet-unanticipated crises.
The country, led by Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett, developed the world’s first-ever tourism resilience center, and is now in its third year of hosting a prominent conference on the subject.
The third annual Global Tourism Resilience Conferencce and Expo will be hosted at the just-debuted Princess Senses, The Mangrove and Princess Grand resorts in Hanover.
The conference will run from Feb. 17-19, officials confirmed to Caribbean Journal.
This year’s event will look at everything from new resilience solutions to blue economy management.
“The principles of tourism resilience have guided us in Jamaica and are crucial to our ongoing success,” Bartlett says. “As the global tourism industry continues to grow and change in the face of new challenges and disruptions, it has never been more important to tap into the expertise of leaders and innovators to collaboratively discuss issues that are central to future-proofing travel and tourism worldwide.”

What about prices? You can find rooms at the Princess Grand for about $579 per night during that period.
