Bimini’s Airport Has a New Runway — And Can Now Receive Passenger Jets
In a major milestone for South Bimini’s airport, the island welcomed a flight on a Boeing 737 jet this week.
The inaugural Boeing 737 flight by Bahamasair touched down this weekend, a huge leap forward for the airport as part of its multimillion-dollar redevelopment project.
The Boeing 737 carrying 122 passengers was the first jet landing In Bimini since the completion of its new runway.
That runway can now accommodate larger aircraft, while the airport’s infrastructure means it can now process passengers.
“This represents a really great transition for the airport,” said Jeremy Evie, the director of Bimini Airport.
