Slight Decline for Caribbean Hotel Occupancy in Shoulder Season 

Caribbean hotel occupancy declined for the second straight month in November, according to new data from analytics from STR. 

The region’s hotels were 66.8 percent full last month, a 1.4 percent reduction from the same month in 2023. 

Average daily rates rose by 1.9 percent in the same period, while revenues were up slightly at 0.4 percent.

The October-November period is typically the “shoulder” season in the Caribbean, between the ultra-low late summer and fall and the peak holiday season.

For the year, Caribbean hotel occupancy is up slightly, with a 0.7 percent increase compared to the first 11 months of 2023. 

Rates continue to climb, up 5.4 percent this year to $327.22, while revenues are up 6.1 percent to $217.08 per room. 

STR’s data surveyed 2,127 hotels comprising some 283,597 rooms across the wider Caribbean region.
