Why You Need to Visit St Croix in the US Virgin Islands This Christmas
It’s the biggest, best Christmas party in the Caribbean: Crucian Christmas, the legendary annual festival on St Croix in the US Virgin Islands. It’s a weeklong celebration that towers over every other holiday party in the region — and it’s back again for a star-studded schedule this year.
So what do you need to know? This year’s lineup kicks off with a Calypso Monarch competition on Dec. 27, followed by events every night, from a cultural night featuring stars like DJ Poppy Pops and Willy Chin to a Flag-O-Rama Night including DJ Avalanche and Lips International, among others.
The event runs through Jan. 4 for Madras Mas night, when Machel Montano headlines a lineup that includes DJ Karl, International Steven, Rudy Live & QC Deh Band, Trilla G, VIO Int’l, Pumpa.
“Every year we aim to bring the best experiences to the island of St. Croix’s locals and visitors, spotlighting our territory’s rich and diverse culture,” said USVI Tourism Commissioner Joseph Boschulte in a statement provided to Caribbean Journal. “This year, we are spotlighting our deep connectivity to the Caribbean region, with performers representing a wide array of our neighboring islands, as well as homegrown stars.”
