It’s been through several iterations (and brands), but now the former Jewel Punta Cana has a new brand and a new look: the Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana. The latest push by Wyndham into the increasingly competitive all-inclusive space is its first in the premier all-inclusive destination in the wider Caribbean.
It’s the fifth Alltra-branded resort in the Caribbean, joining an existing trio in Mexico and another in the Samana area of the Dominican Republic. Alltra is a portmanteau of “all inclusive travel for all,” the company says.
And now the 620-suite resort has an opening date: April 1, 2025, with booking now available.
So what do you need to know? The resort is set on the beach in Uvero Alto, part of Greater Punta Cana (about 45 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport)
The amenities are, well, vast: everything from almost two dozen dining concepts to, in a very welcome amenity for families, a new-build water park.
The hotel is managed by all-inclusive company Playa, which has a broad portfolio of all-inclusives under a number of brands in the wider region.
The hotel has a “distinctive local concept and design,” Playa EVP Fernando Mulet said in a statement provided to Caribbean Journal.
The hotel is family-friendly but will also be able to cater to couples, the property said. That includes a range of rooms from traditional suites to swim-up options to a 12-treatment-room spa.
The most surprising thing might be the opening rate. Prices for stays at Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana in April are asl ow as $125 per person per night — a seriously good value even in the Dominican Republic, where relatively cheap all-inclusive options abound.
While it’s not a swim-out, a good option is one of the resort’s pool “walk-out” rooms, meaning you open your terrace and walk right out to the pool. These rooms have rates at $329 per night right now.
It’s also abundantly easy to get to Punta Cana, with flights from a number of major and mid-market cities across the United States. You can find more flight choices at Google Flights.
