Anguilla has embarked on a major expansion of its airport, and the project is getting closer to fruition, officials said this week.
The revamp of the island’s Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport will be anchored by a new passenger terminal, which is slated to begin operation before the winter season in 2026.
That will be followed by a significant runway expansion, which will begin in January and take about a year to complete.
The moves will “further bolster the island’s capacity to welcome larger aircraft and more visitors.”
American Airlines has been flying to the island out of Miami since 2021. American is adding a third Saturday flight out of Miami, supplementing existing double daily flights out of Miami.
The other best option to reach Anguilla is to fly Tradewind Aviation out of San Juan. That service resumes Dec. 19.
