It’s Been 43 Years Since Muhammad Ali’s “Drama in Bahama.” Now Boxing Is Coming Back to Nassau.
It was 1981 when Muhammad Ali fought Trevor Berbick in the “Drama in Bahama.”
Now, 43 years later, a world-championship boxing match is coming to The Bahamas, with the Baha Mar resort playing host.
The “Fight Night at Baha Mar” match will see France’s Kevin Lele Sadjo face off against Chinese star Xu Can. Also fighting that night will be Cuba’s Lenar Perez versus Erislandy Alvarez, along with Bahamian champion Carl Field.
The fights will be held at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar Ballroom.
If you want to attend, there are two primary pricing options: VIP seating starting at $1,000 plus tax; or a VIP table at $12,000 plus tax for seven.
The fight night is another example of Nassau and The Bahamas’ broader position as the Caribbean leader in sports tourism, from major golfing events to college football bowl games.
