Barbados Is Getting a New Adults-Only Resort As the Island’s All-Inclusive Boom Continues
The beaches. The flying fish. The rum. The history. Barbados is having a moment right now, as travelers — particularly Americans — begin to discover the many charms of this island in the southeastern Caribbean.
What you may not know is that Barbados has also been developing one of the Caribbean’s top collections of all-inclusive resorts, from the Elegant Hotels portfolio (which Marriott bought back in 2019) to the recently-debuted Wyndham Sam Lord’s Castle. That’s without mentioning the continued growth of the Ocean Hotels portfolio on the south coast of the island, an area we’ve dubbed the “Cool Coast” of Barbados.
Now, the island is set to get another major all-inclusive resort, with the planned launch of a new Royalton CHIC resort in the spring of 2026, Caribbean Journal has learned.
CHIC is Royalton’s elevated, upscale adults-only brand, and it’s coming to the exclusive Platinum Coast of the island. (CHIC just opened another new Caribbean resort on the island of Antigua earlier this year).
So what do you need to know about the property?
The Royalton CHIC Barbados will have 220 rooms, all of them suites; that will include a number of swim-up suites, perhaps the most-in-demand accommodation option in the Caribbean right now.
And yes, the hotel will offer Diamond Club suites, which give you extra touches like private check-in and other special amenities.
The signature amenity will be a rooftop bar and lounge —another increasingly popular trend in Barbados (where Sandals and the O2 Beach Club both offer similar designs), that the brand says will be like its Level 18 at the CHIC resort in Cancun.
In a statement provided to Caribbean Journal, the company said the resort would “redefine the island’s hospitality landscape.” What it will certainly do is offer another solid option for those looking for an all-inclusive option in Barbados and, with 220 rooms, likely provide an airlift boost as well.
Of course, if you’re looking to try this resort in Barbados, you’ll have to wait at least a year. So what about a vacation now?
We’re rather partial to The Club, Barbados, a quintessential Barbados resort that’s one of the most authentic options among all-inclusive resorts on the island.
Staying on the west coats, we also like the Elegant Hotels properties in the part of the island, including boutique stays like Treasure Beach and The House (which has our favorite breakfast on the whole island).
