Hilton Is Opening Its First-Ever Resort on the Caribbean Island of Bonaire

A villa at the Delfins Beach Resort in Bonaire, which is joining the Hilton portfolio.

The diving. The food scene. The adventure. Bonaire has been more popular than ever in recent years, and now one of its top resorts is getting a major flag.

The Delfins Beach Resort, a resort we’ve stayed at many times and one that remains one of our favorites on the island, is becoming a Hilton, Caribbean Journal has learned.

In 2025, Delfins will become part of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton, according to the hotel giant.

It’s a significant lift for a resort that has long done well with the Dutch market but struggled attracting American travelers — a shame since it’s an extremely well-run, sleekly designed property that’s great for adults and for families.

Of course, Delfins is perhaps most famous for the restaurant that calls it home: the Brass Boer, the Caribbean outpost of the three-Michelin-star De Librije, which has been named number one restaurant in the Caribbean in the 50 Best Caribbean Restaurants for the last three years in a row.

Delfins, which opened in 2019, is getting a new brand.

The 148-room oceanfront (there is a small beach and great snorkeling) has two magnesium pools, a terrific beach bar (also run by the Brass Boer team), an on-site dive shop and a nice little boutique, too.

Our favorite rooms are the multi-bedroom villas, all of which come with full kitchens and some of which come with their own private pools and an extra degree of privacy.

This seems like strictly a brand change, with no renovations or upgrades seemingly planned; but it will a big boost for the effort’s to draw visitors from the US and for Bonaire’s tourism industry in general.

The rooms are bright and colorful.

Bonaire has some great smaller hotels, with just one American brand: a Courtyard Marriott hotel.

Right now, the hotel is bookable on the Hilton platform, but only for stays beginning in January.

So what about cost?

It remains one of the Caribbean’s great values, with rates right now around $145 per night for a standard room.
