Whether you’re fishing in West End, shopping in Port Lucia or savoring the natural beauty in Gold Rock Beach, if you know Grand Bahama you know just how fascinating a destination the island is.

As Grand Bahama works on its tourism renaissance (from a new airport project to a highly-anticipated Six Senses resort on the way), it’s about to get a major boost from the world’s largest airline.

American Airlines just returned to Freeport, Grand Bahama this week, with daily nonstop service out of Miami, Caribbean Journal has confirmed.

But that’s not all. Next month, American Airlines will ramping up that route to twice-daily service – a significant lift for fall travel to the island.

American will also be operating a weekly Saturday service between Charlotte and Freeport, Bahamian tourism officials told us.

It’s yet another bounce for an island that has been making a strong comeback since Hurricane Dorian, one that also include a highly-anticipated new cruise destination being developed by Carnival Cruise Line — one that just revealed some of tis newest amenities.

The new airlift should help shine a light on the diverse charms of Grand Bahama, from world-class eateries like Chef Tim Tibbitts’ Flying Fish GastroBar to some of the best luxury villas you’ve never heard of.

So what about prices for the new American Airlines flights?

Prices are starting at around $392 in the main cabin, according to AA.com. That’s for a sample itinerary in the middle of October. Business class is about $806.
