St Maarten’s New Airport Is Opening Its Arrival Hall — And Adding a New Electronic Immigration Form
It’s been seven years since St Maarten’s Princess Juliana International Airport was devastated by Hurricane Irma. The rebuild has been a long road — culminating with the debut last year of its sparkling new departure hall.
We were impressed by the new departure hall on our recent visit to the island — from its strong duty free offering to a much-improved culinary operation (particularly the Bacchus cafe).
Later this month, the airport is set to open another long-awaited piece: the new Arrival Hall.
Princess Juliana’s new arrival hall is set to welcome passengers on Oct. 15, a huge boost for the island’s continued tourism recovery.
As part of the relaunch, the airpot has unveiled a new automated border control system — one aimed at streamlining the immigration process for passengers.
That will include a new portal online where you can enter your details before you even fly to St Maarten, officials told Caribbean Journal.
It’s a crucial improvement for an airport that is one of the Caribbean’s most important air hubs, from a broad network of flights in the Eastern Caribbean to its role as a central connection point for nearby islands like St Barth, Saba, Statia and Anguilla, among others.
