What the new Eataly will look like on the inside.

Eataly, the global Italian food hall with locations everywhere from New York to Germany to Saudi Arabia, is coming to the Caribbean — on a cruise ship.

MSC Cruises is bringing the first-ever Eataly at sea to its new MSC World America ship when it debuts next year.

Eataly is famous for its large food halls with Italian specialty foods, wine and myriad restaurant concepts, from mozzarella bars to pasta shops. The new MSC edition be a “gastronomic journey of discovery,” said Bernhard Stacher, vice president of global hotel operations at MSC.

The first-ever Eataly at sea is coming to the Caribbean Sea.

While it won’t be a traditional food hall, it will be more of a traditional restaurant, with a menu focusing on the “pillars of Italian gastronomy,” with a mix of freshly-made pasta and special items you can only get on the ship.

MSC is calling it an “informal yet elegant atmosphere,” with an open kitchen to show you exactly how your food is being prepared.

The company has not said if there will be a retail component to the concept, something that is obviously a hallmark of the land-based Eataly. But you can be sure that fine Italian wines will be at the forefront of the menu.

So when can we expect Eataly in the middle of the Caribbean Sea?
