Two New Resorts Are Coming to Jamaica, With Swim-Up Rooms and Overwater Villas
Overwater villas. Swim-up rooms. A water park. Private butlers. A pair of new resorts is coming to Jamaica this fall, and now the first-ever Princess Hotels properties on the island have an opening date.
The dual-resort complex is set to open in the up-and-coming tourism destination of Green Island on the northwestern coast of the island on the road to Negril.
So what are the newest hotels in Jamaica? One is Princess Senses The Mangrove, an all-inclusive, adults-only resort, with a mix of overwater villas (with their own private pools), ocean-view suites and swim-up rooms. Amenities will include 14 restaurants, 15 bars and lounges and a destination spa. In all, there are 401 rooms (all of which are suites) and 14 different overwater villas, a relatively new trend in Jamaica that began with the debut of Sandals’ first overwater suites back in 2016.
The other one is Princess Grand Jamaica, a family-friendly hotel. Here you’ll get a water park, a kids club, nanny service, a “thematic entertainment zone” with virtual reality and activities like water sports and tennis to make sure you always have something to do for everyone in your group. Here the dining concepts will range from Mexican to Asian to local Jamaican fare, with nine eateries in total, joined by another eight bars. The Princess Grand is bigger, with 590 suites in total, including a “platinum” level with extra amenities and private butlers.
So when are they opening?
Right now, the resorts are set to open on Nov. 1, according to Princess’ Web site.
What about prices?
Right now, the family friendly Princess Grand Jamaica has rates starting as low as $469 per night, according to Princess.com.
While they’re the first Princess properties in Jamaica, Princess is no stranger to the Caribbean, however. The Spanish firm has seven resorts in the wider region, with four in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and another three in the Mexican Caribbean.
