A Prince Tribute Show Is Coming to Norwegian Cruise Line
Purple Rain is coming to the Caribbean Sea. Norwegian Cruise Line has been looking to ramp up its entertainment offerings, and that includes a work by its in-house studio developing Broadway-style shows.
The latest product of that work? A new show celebrating music legend Prince. It’s called Revolution, and it’s a “concert-like experience” with many of Prince’s biggest hits, ranging from Purple Rain to Delirious.
The program is the product of a partnership with Broadway choreographer Patricia Wilcox, who also helped develop another new show called Elements: The World Expanded.
So where can you see the new Prince show? The new show will be debuting on the new Norwegian Aqua ship, which will be making its first sailing in the Caribbean in April 2025.
The show, set in the ship’s Aqua Theater and Club, will give guests an experience on and off the stage. You can also choose to “enjoy the show on the dance floor with the cast or watch from traditional theater seating,” according to NCL.
The idea for the show came to Wilcox about seven years ago, she said in a release. The premise is to “create a theatrical concert that would joyfully celebrate his music and exceptional artistry,” she said.
The late music legend was no stranger to the Caribbean, spending years at a vacation villa he owned in Turks and Caicos.
