A New Version of LIAT Just Made Its First Flight to Saint Lucia

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - August 10, 2024

It’s called LIAT 20, but it’s really LIAT 2.0. Longtime regional carrier LIAT, which has been out of operations for several years, is back — this time under a new brand name.

The revamped, restructured airline just made its “inaugural” flight this week with a flight from Antigua to Saint Lucia.

“The Caribbean has long needed more robust connections between our islands. LIAT20’s expansion plans are a promising step in that direction,” said Dexter Percil, head of marketing at the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority. “We are excited about the potential for further growth and are keen to collaborate with LIAT20 as they continue to connect more destinations across our region.”

LIAT20 will be operating a new route between Antigua, Saint Lucia and Barbados starting this month.

The route will operate three times per week, with two flights each day.

Right now, the airline is using an Embraer 145 aircraft with capacity for 50 passengers.

The plan is to expand more, with flights to St Maarten, St Kitts, Grenada and Dominica.

It’s the second major relaunch of a regional airline this month, following the successful rebirth of French Caribbean carrier Air Antilles
