The new five-star resort is opening in December.

Surging tourism numbers have helped lead Aruba’s airport to record-breaking passenger traffic numbers in the first half of 2024, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The airport handled 803,287 revenue-generating passengers in the first six months of the year, an all-time high for the airport.

That was a 19 percent increase over the same period in 2023, according to Aruba’s airport officials.

The United States continued to lead the way with 73 percent of the market share, although that was actually 1 percent lower than previous years, thanks to efforts to court new markets, particularly South America.

Aruba handled flights from 26 different airlines in the first half, with 14,000 total commercial aircraft movements.

The news comes as Aruba prepares for the 2025 debut of its brand-new US departures terminal.
