Marriott Is Opening a New All-Inclusive in the Riviera Maya

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - June 9, 2024 - 8:42 pm

One of the region’s most celebrated all-inclusive resorts is becoming a Marriott, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The former Zoëtry Paraiso de la Bonita is being rebranded as part of Marriott’s Luxury Collection — and the latest resort to join Marriott’s growing portfolio of all-inclusive resorts in the wider Caribbean.

The new Paraiso de la Bonita, a Luxury Collection Adult All-Inclusive Resort, is opening in “late 2024,” Marriott International told Caribbean Journal.

The resort, set in Puerto Morelos in the heart of the Riviera Maya, is the product of an agreement between Playa Hotels and Resorts and Marriott.

The beachfront resort is reopening later this year.

So what do you need to know?

When it opens, Paraiso de la Bonita will have 100 oceanfront suites, along with a large 22,000-square-foot destination spa, three eateries (one with a 5,000-bottle wine cellar) and a ceviche restaurant, among others.

It’s a significant addition for Marriott’s all-inclusive portfolio — one that now includes one of the top-rated all-incluisves in the Caribbean.

Laurent de Kousemaeker, chief development officer for Marriott in the Caribbean and Latin America, said the resort would “continue to deliver on The Luxury Collection promise of providing access to the most fascinating and sought-after locations on earth, while offering unparalleled amenities and service that discerning global explorers have come to expect from the brand.”

Marriott’s continued foray into all-inclusive is no surprise, given the surging demand for the all-inclusive concept from travelers, particularly in the Caribbean.

“The demand for luxury all-inclusive products has been growing significantly, and we are proud to lead this transformation,” said Fernando Mules, Playa’s EVP and chief commercial officer.

The resort will be part of a burgeoning all-inclusive component of the Luxury Collection, which includes the existing Sanctuary Cap Cana and the soon-to-debut Almare, which is opening this year on Isla Mujeres.
