Riu Has Now Opened Its New All-Inclusive Beach Resort in Montego Bay

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - June 1, 2024

The water park, the kids club, the beach, the pools. The Riu formula is simple — and effective. And now the Caribbean all-inclusive giant has another new resort in the region.

This is the Riu Aquarelle, and it’s the seventh Riu Hotels and Resorts property in Jamaica — the first in the fast-growing area of Falmouth in “greater” Montego Bay.

The direct beachfront hotel has 700 rooms in a prime setting on White Bay Beach, with a family-friendly focus and a broad slate of amenities ranging from the aforementioned water park to a sprawling buffet to an impressive fitness center.

So what else do you need to know?

The Riu Aquarelle has four pools (including a kids-focused pool), a premier water park, free Wi-Fi across the property and Riu’s signature 24-hour all-inclusive offering.

The dining program ranges from a fusion eatery called “Krystall” to a Japanese hibachi restaurant to an eatery focused on local Jamaican flavors.

It’s another new addition for Falmouth, an area still best known for its Royal Caribbean-centric cruise port but one that is an increasingly popular destination for hotel companies — most notably a big Riu competitor, Blue Diamond Resorts (think Royalton White Sands etc).

If you know Riu, you know what to expect: clean, simple design, friendly service and a formulaic but well-executed all-inclusive program.

So, perhaps most importantly, what does it cost?

The cheapest room for a representative booking for next week started at around $1774.08 for a four-night stay. That gives you a junior suite with a partial sea view, a coffee machine, a balcony and, yes, Riu’s famous in-room drinks dispenser.
