Thanks in large part to last fall’s launch of Virgin Atlantic’s first-ever flight to Providenciales, the Turks and Caicos is in the midst of a boom in travel from the United Kingdom.

For the first three months of this year, Turks and Caicos reported just under 4,000 are arrivals from the UK and Europe, a 105.4 percent increase compared to the first quarter of 2023.

Both Virgin Atlantic and British Airways are now running twice-weekly flights between London and Turks and Caicos. That has also helped grow the attendant European market, with more arrivals from countries like France, Spain and Germany, according to Experience Turks and Caicos.

The destination is now projecting a total of 8,130 passengers from the UK through August, which would be a 54 percent increase compared to 2023.

“The increase in UK and European arrivals reflects our concerted efforts to diversify our tourism offerings and expand our reach,” said Turks and Caicos Tourism Minister Josephine Connolly. “We welcome visitors from the UK and beyond to experience the beauty of our islands and the warmth of our hospitality.”

Overall, TCI officials are anticipating a 24 percent increase in year-over-year arrivals from all markets.
