Colombian carrier Avianca is relaunching a major seasonal nonstop route to Cartagena, the booming destination on the country’s Caribbean coast.

Beginning June 2, Avianca will restart flights between New York and Cartagena, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The service will be operating four times each week.

Cartagena-New York service will run on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays; New York-Cartagena flights will be available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

It’s another lift for a destination that continues to surge in popularity, with a boom in new hotels (including a planned Four Seasons on the way) and more and more new flights from the United States.

Avianca also operates service between Miami and Cartagena.

We’re very pleased to have some of the seasonal routes back this summer, a period of heightened demand,” said Rolando Damas, Avianca Airline’s country officer in the United States and sales director for North America, Central America, and the Caribbean.
