The Cayman Islands' newest hotel is opening in May.

There’s something about Seven Mile Beach in Grand Cayman. If you’ve been there, you know. The sand is just softer. The water is clearer. And warmer. It’s just a magical beach.

It’s the crown jewel of Grand Cayman, and remains one of the most celebrated stretches of sand anywhere in the Caribbean. In a few months, Seven Mile Beach will soon be home to a brand-new hotel.

In May, Grand Cayman will welcome a brand-new hotel from InterContinental Hotels Group, with the debut of the new Hotel Indigo on Seven Mile Beach.

The hotel, set near another IHG property, the renowned Kimpton Seafire, will have 282 rooms, along with a pair of pools, one for adults and one for families, a nearly 7,000-square-foot ballroom and a rooftop bar, too.

IHG says the rooms at the hotel are meant to evoke the local environment in Cayman, with a focus on locally-sourced art and a “mix of whites, creams and peaches” in the aesthetic.

The hotel hasn’t revealed its culinary program, but does promise multiple restaurants, along with the aforementioned rooftop lounge, according to developer Dart.

It’s the latest development by Dart, which also owns the Kimpton, the Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman and several other resorts in the Cayman Islands (along with the Four Seasons Anguilla). The project was designed by Blur Workshop.

The new resort is the first-ever Hotel Indigo in the Caribbean, and the fourth in the wider Caribbean-Mexico region.

IHG has announced it is already taking reservations for stays at the hotel beginning May 8, 2024, Caribbean Journal confirmed.

The hotel is part of a growing pipeline of new resorts on the way in Grand Cayman, including a new Grand Hyatt resort (also on Seven Mile Beach) and a Mandarin Oriental, too.

It’s the second major IHG-portfolio that will be making its debut in the second quarter of this year, along with the highly-anticipated new Six Senses Grenada, which is opening its doors in April.
