The Mexican Caribbean’s Newest Beach Hotel Was a “Joy to Bring to Life”

The new "Lula" hotel.

“Lula has been a joy to bring to life,” says property designer and general manager Laura Avila. “Every color, every bite of food and every program offering has been created to bring a sense of wonder and inspiration to our guests.”

Lula is the newest hotel by Colibri Boutique Hotels, which just unveiled its latest creation in the heart of the Mexican Caribbean’s hippest destination: Tulum.

The “new” hotel is a transformation of the former Sanara Tulum, which was purchased by Colibri last summer.

The acquisition was followed by a “full rebrand and redesign,” according to the company.

The company says the hotel is “something different” for regular travelers to Tulum: Mediterranean blues and yellows, new services and experiences and a staff “focused on helping guests squeeze the very best from each moment.”

But Lula also has the things that made you fall in love with Tulum to begin with: a wellness sanctuary with yoga and a range of creative treatments; a delicious culinary program called Baja Mediterranean Cuisine; and Colibri’s unique “mystic experiences” menu.

The debut is well timed: in just a few weeks Tulum will welcome its first nonstop flights from the United States, following the debut of Tulum’s new international airport late last year.
