They’re three of the most charming small island destinations in the Caribbean: the Dutch Caribbean gems of Statia and Saba and the French Caribbean hotspot of St Barth. And they’re both just a quick flight from nearby St Maarten — quick enough that you can easily make a day trip to any of the three destinations.

That’s the thinking behind St Maarten-based carrier Winair’s new Day Trip Specials, which just launched with serious savings for travelers looking to visit any of the three islands for the day.

So far, the program has been a success, says Hans van de Velde, CEO of Winair.

“”We’re very pleased with this early surge in reservations,” he said. “This strong start underscores the program’s compelling combination of affordability and convenience, not only for customers seeking diverse experiences but also for St. Maarten itself. By offering easy access to neighboring destinations, we’re enhancing the overall appeal of St. Maarten as a tourism hub.”

Special fares start at around $79 to Saba and Statia and $99 to St Barth.

It’s a “cost-effective pathway to discovering neighboring islands,” Winner says.

“We are happy with this promising start of our collaborative initiative,” said Brian Mingo, CEO of St Maarten’s Princess Juliana International Airport. ”The Day Trip Specials not only benefit the adventurous travelers, but all stakeholders – driving additional economic activity for the islands and local businesses.”

The easier access means you can spend the day hiking Statia’s Quill dormant volcano; taste some of the world’s best lobster in Saba; or go people watching at St Barth’s iconic St Jean beach.
