If you’re just emerging from a blisteringly cold winter storm, Turks and Caicos’ Grace Bay Beach sounds pretty, pretty good. That’s precisely the point of Delta’s newest flight to Providenciales.

The air carrier just kicked off its newest nonstop service to the Caribbean, with a new routes that connects Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport and Providenciales, Turks and Caicos (airport code PLS), providing an easy escape from Midwestern snow to white sand and rum punch.

The new nonstop service, which officially launched this weekend, will be operating once weekly on Saturdays, according to Delta. The flights are running on Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

“The Turks and Caicos Islands welcomes a new seasonal flight on Delta Airlines out of Minneapolis to Providenciales with weekly, non-stop service on Saturdays,” the destination’s leading resort, the Shore Club on Long Bay, said in a statement. “What a great way to escape the cold and trade snowy streets for our beautiful sandy beaches.”

Roundtrip fares start at $903 in the main cabin, according to Delta’s Web site. Comfort+ seats start at $1003.

The Minneapolis-Turks and Caicos service departs on Saturday mornings at 9 AM, with a flight time of a little over four and a half hours.

Minneapolis has been seeing more and more new routes to the Caribbean, with carriers seizing on growing demand for the region out of the Midwest in particular.

That includes Frontier’s recently-launched flights between Minneapolis and Cancun, Mexico, along with Sun Country Airlines’ just-relaunched service between Minneapolis and Belize on the Caribbean coast of Central America.

Last year, Sun Country also launched flights between Minneapolis and Grand Cayman

Because if you’re looking for warm weather, nothing beats the Caribbean. Period.
