One of The Bahamas’ top airlines has named a new chief executive officer, Caribbean Journal has learned.

Western Air, which operates a growing network of flights both within The Bahamas and between The Bahamas and South Florida, has named Sherrexcia “Rexy” Rolle to the role.

Rolle, who will also serve as Accountable Manager, has helped lead Western Air’s transition from a turboprop to a growing fleet of Embraer 145-50 jets. She had previously served as the airline’s VP of operations and general counsel.

She also helped spearhead the airline’s first-ever route between Fort Lauderdale and Nassau.

“Rexy is deeply committed to the service we offer passengers. She’s hands on. For years, her role has been all encompassing, overseeing the day-to-day operations and the legal & regulatory affairs of the airline. We know she will continue to work hard to enhance and develop the Western Air experience for passengers,” said Capt. Rex Rolle, who has served as president and CEO of the airline for the last 23 years.

Western Air was founded by Rex Rolle in 2000.

“Customers matter most and we are here to serve from check-in to landing and beyond,” Rexy Rolle said in a statement. “Each person plays a part. And as a family business, it’s truly an honor to step into the role that my Dad served for so long.”
