Hilton is opening its first Tapestry Collection hotel in Los Cabos next year: the new Tropicana Los Cabos.

The 70-room resort, expected to open early in 2024, is a reimagination of the former Tropicana Inn. The property, set near the city center in San Jose del Cabo, about 500 feet from the town’s popular Plaza Mijares.

“The Pacific Coast of Mexico represents an integral role in Hilton’s larger organic growth strategy across this diverse destination as we look to bolster our presence with world-class brands and add to our portfolio of award-winning hotels in Baja California,” said Mario Carbone, Hilton’s managing director for development in Mexico and Central America.

The conversion of the Tropicana Inn will “propel our vision forward of introducing new brands in new destinations while providing value for our owners and catering to our evolving guests’ needs,” Carbone said.

The project is being joined by another Tapestry Collection hotel called La Perla, which will be set in the city of La Paz, also in Baja California.

“We are excited to partner with Hilton to convert and introduce these two storied properties for guests traveling to Baja California,” said Onirius Hospitality Advisors’ Luis Ruiz, who served as the principal advisor for the development and launch of both hotels. “Coupled with Hilton’s strategic vision for Mexico growth and prowess as a hospitality leader, we’re delighted to provide guests with a truly unforgettable experience as part of Tapestry Collection by Hilton whether they’re traveling to the state’s capital of La Paz or the laid-back getaway of San Jose del Cabo.”
