Uncrowded beaches and upscale resorts; green hills and cool breezes; vibrant food and superyachts and captivating music. In Antigua and Barbuda, they say the beach is just the beginning, and if you’ve been to the twin-island destination you know it’s true.

Antigua and Barbuda has been one of the most sought-after destinations in the Caribbean of late, particularly since the pandemic, as more and more travelers place a premium on the islands’ unique blend of natural beauty, space, seclusion and dynamic cultural experiences.

And getting to Antigua and Barbuda just a whole lot easier.

Silver Airways has inaugurated new nonstop flights between San Juan, Puerto Rico and Antigua, opening up Antigua to the vast number of major airlines that fly from cities across the United States to San Juan.

The new flights will operate four times each week, with nonstop flights between Luis Munoz Marin International Airport and Antigua’s VC Bird International Airport. That will mean service from San Juan to Antigua on Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, and from Antigua to San Juan on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

“Silver Airways is a long-awaited welcomed addition, as we prepare for a busy winter season,” said Charles Fernandez, Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Transportation and Investment of Antigua and Barbuda. “The expansion of their service to Antigua and Barbuda provides visitors and those in the diaspora with another convenient way to travel to our twin islands and experience our rich culture, delectable cuisine, nautical adventures, stunning beaches, and hospitable people.”

Silver is offering fares as low as $99 for December and January travel, the company said.

“This new service expands our presence in the Caribbean and will offer more connectivity and opportunities with our partner airlines and provide our passengers with safe, reliable, and customer-friendly service to their travel destination,” said Steve Rossum, CEO of Silver Airways.

Silver has an extensive codeshare and interline network of air carriers in the United States, meaning many travelers can book one ticket and check their bags all the way from their home city to Antigua.

“The introduction of Antigua as a route signifies a tremendous vote of confidence in our tourism product and the marketing abilities of our teams within the Caribbean and the USA. The launch of this new service at affordable rates, is ripe with potential as it will further our reach in the United States and the Caribbean,” Fernandez said.
