One of Anguilla’s premier luxury resorts is now the island’s greenest resort. The Zemi Beach House, part of the LXR Hotels and Resorts portfolio, has debuted a new solar farm.

The project, installed by SwitchLogix Limited, means the 76-room hotel can now run exclusively on solar energy during the day and, at peak sunlight, can actually harness excess energy.

The plant, set on five acres of land, includes 2,700 solar modules, with a peak output of 1MW — enough to power 200 traditional households.

Surplus electricity is stored in a 2MWh lithium-ion storage system, meaning a stable and consistent power supply even during periods of low sunlight and in the evening.

It’s the latest project in the Caribbean for SwitchLogix, which has completed more than 2.5MW in residential and commercial solar installations in the wider region.

It’s the latest green initiative for Zemi Beach House, which also uses LED low-consumption lighting and uniquely-shaped roofs to collect rainwater for irrigating the landscape.

“Zemi strives to incorporate green practices into the fabric of the hotel and is constantly raising the bar in introducing new technologies to do so,” said Paulo Paias, General Manager of Zemi Beach House. “We take pride in creating a beautiful environment for our guests and maintaining the beauty of our island for travelers to enjoy for decades to come.”
