United Airlines is adding more flights to to popular destinations in the Dominican Republic this winter, Caribbean Journal has learned.
The carrier is expanding its service to three daily flights between Newark and Santiago, along with three daily flights to Santo Domingo as well, the company confirmed.
Both cities have been seeing renewed interest as the Dominican Republic looks to grow its tourism product beyond the traditional hub of Punta Cana.
Santiago, which is actually called Santiago de los Caballeros, is the home of the cigar industry in the Dominican Republic.
Earlier this month, Santiago got another new nonstop route from the United States when JetBlue kicked off flights between Orlando and Santiago.
