US Virgin Islands Set to Host Major Caribbean Investment Conference

By: Caribbean Journal Staff

The US Virgin Islands is set to host a major Caribbean hotel investment conference.

The 2023 edition of the Caribbean Hotel Investment Conference and Operations Summit, CHICOS, is being hosted Nov. 12-14 at the newly-opened Westin Beach Resort and Spa at Frenchman’s Reef in St Thomas.

This year’s event is expected to bring together more than 300 attendees from within the region and beyond.

“We are honored to welcome CHICOS to our amazing islands,” said USVI Tourism Commissioner Joseph Boschulte. “This conference presents an exceptional opportunity for prominent stakeholders to explore the untapped potential and abundant investment opportunities within the thriving Caribbean hospitality industry. We look forward to showcasing the U.S. Virgin Islands as a premier destination and engaging in fruitful discussions that will shape the future of tourism in our region.”

The conference comes as hotel investment continues to heat up in the USVI, where new hotels are opening up (including the recently-debuted Pink Palm in St Thomas) and breaking ground — including the recent launch of the Hampton by Hilton in St Thomas, the first new-build project on the island in more than two decades.

“We have been witnessing the rise of the U.S.V.I., which has seen significant increases in terms of hotel performance, as well as air arrivals and cruise passenger visitation over the last few years. Now conference attendees can see the opportunities these islands have to offer first-hand,” said Parris Jordan, chairman of the Caribbean Hotel Investment Conference & Operations Summit.
