A pair of the Caribbean’s most popular destinations are getting a significant boost for the peak winter season, Caribbean Journal has learned.

In January, American Airlines is ramping up its service to both Anguilla and St Maarten out of Miami International Airport.

Between Jan. 8 and April 3, 2024, American will be expanding service to three daily flights to both destinations out of Miami.

American Airlines will be operating its Miami-Anguilla service on Embraer 175 aircraft, and Miami-St Maarten flights on Boeing 737-800s.

The move comes as American is planning what the company calls its “largest-ever schedule” to the Caribbean-Mexico region this coming winter (that includes a recent announcement of a major ramp-up to The Bahamas).

It’s another vote of confidence for the Caribbean’s peak winter tourist season.

American first launched flights to Anguilla in 2021, part of a broader strategy for the company to connect travelers with smaller Caribbean airports without existing US routes.

That is a strategy the company has continued over the last few years, starting landmark service to islands like Dominica and, most recently, Tortola in the British Virgin Islands
