Curacao is seeing a surge in demand for fall travel, according to a new report from travel giant Expedia.

The Dutch Caribbean destination has seen a 175 percent increase in demand for fall 2023 travel, based on data from Expedia flight searches.

That’s one of the highest increases in interest of any destination globally, according to the company.

The data covers the period between Sept. 6 and Nov. 15, 2023.

It’s part of a broader increase in interest for autumn travel, according to Melanie Fish, head of Expedia’s communications team.

Overall, flight searches for the fall are up 15 percent, with hotel searches jumping 20 percent compared to last fall.

“Forget pumpkin spice everything season, fall is now travel everywhere season. For people not beholden to school schedules, people without kids and deal-hunters, the so-called shoulder season between summer and the holidays is prime time for a getaway,” Fish said. “It’s the time of year when average prices drop and availability opens up, ideal for taking that final beach trip or heading to less crowded cities overseas. That secret is out, and searches are up across Expedia, Hotels.com and Vrbo.”
