This Hotel Has the Best Wine List in the Caribbean

It’s no surprise that the home of the third-largest private wine cellar in the world is also the best wine list in the Caribbean.

That’s precisely the case at legendary Nassau, Bahamas hotel Graycliff, whose remarkably broad collection of wine (and spirits) recently took home six awards from The World of Fine Wine”’s World’s Best Wine Lists Awards.

The luxury hotel took home awards for: Best Hotel Wine List; Best Designed Wine List; Best Champagne and Sparkling Wine List; Best Dessert and Fortified Wine List; Best Long Wine List; and Best Spirits List.

The awards are judged according to a rigorous protocol by an independent panel of leading professionals, including Masters of Wine, Master Sommeliers, and a World Champion Sommelier.

Graycliff, the home of the first five-star restaurant in the Caribbean, was purchased by owner Enrico Garzaroli in 1973, five years after he had already begun a serious wine collection.

He began buying wines from all over the world, accumulating an impressive collection that would soon add spirts like bourbon, whisky, cognac, armagnac and, of course, rum.

Today, the wine cellar is home to more than 300,000 bottles.

“We are honored to be recognized by ‘The World of Fine Wine’ and this achievement would not have been possible without the dedication of our team and the support of our valued guests. I must extend my deepest appreciation to our team of incredible sommeliers, whose expertise and passion have played a pivotal role in curating our extraordinary wine collection and providing personalized recommendations to our patrons.”
