Delta Air Lines is making its long-awaited return to the Dutch Caribbean island of Curacao this coming winter, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The carrier is coming back to Curacao for the first time since 2010, it announced this week.

Delta will kick off a new route between Atlanta and Curacao beginning on Dec. 16, making it the only airline providing nonstop service to Curacao from Atlanta.

Curacao has been seeing record-breaking tourism arrivals, particularly from the US market.

It’s part of what will be Delta’s largest-ever holiday schedule, with nearly 500 weekly flights to 44 destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean this winter.

That includes recently-launched service to both Cozumel, Mexico and Cartagena.

Delta will be operating the Atlanta-Curacao flight once weekly on Saturdays.

The flight will be operated on a Boeing 737-800 aircraft, with a mix of first class, Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin seats.

Delta will now be operating service to all three “ABC” islands in the Dutch Caribbean, complementing existing service to both Aruba and Bonaire.
