St Maarten-based regional airline Winair is launching new service to Bonaire this month.

The new flight from St Maarten (which stops first in Curacao) will be operating twice each week, according to the carrier.

The inaugural flight will arrive in Bonaire on July 16 at Flamingo International Airport, Tourism Corporation Bonaire confirmed.

It’s an important new connection for Bonaire within the region, additionally opening up the island to the vast number of US flights that come to St Maarten’s Princess Juliana International Airport.

It will be the first new route for the carrier since longtime chief executive officer Michael Cleaver stepped down from the role. He has been succeeded by new CEO Hans van de Velds.
