With continued competition from low-cost carriers in the Caribbean, American Airlines is continuing to ramp-up its region-wide expansion for the upcoming winter travel season.

American is adding daily flights and expanding service to a host of destinations around the Caribbean, including several additions out of Charlotte.

Beginning Dec. 5, American will be expanding its Charlotte-Belize flights to daily service, while strengthening its Charlotte-Montego Bay service to a total of four daily flights.

It’s part of a broader 40 percent increase in flights from Charlotte to Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America.

American has also announced new daily flights from Charlotte to destinations including St Croix, Curacao, Los Cabos and Puerto Plata.

Those imminent launches are accompanied by increases to four daily flights between Charlotte and Punta Cana and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

American Airlines will be operating a total of 10 different routes from Charlotte to the Caribbean and Mexico this winter.

It’s a strong message of American’s confidence in the Caribbean market ahead of the next big tourism season.

Charlotte continues to grow as a source market for Caribbean travel, joining an increasing of number of important feeder markets for the region beyond traditional hubs like New York and Miami.
