Tradewind Aviation Is Launching Flights to Virgin Gorda, BVI

By: Alexander Britell - June 7, 2023

It’s one of the most sought-after luxury destinations in the entire Caribbean: Virgin Gorda, the jewel of the British Virgin Islands and home to stunning luxury resorts like Rosewood Little Dix Bay and Oil Nut Bay (along with an impressive collection of villas).

Now it’s about to get much easier to travel there.

Tradewind Aviation, the leading luxury airline in the Caribbean, is planning to launch new nonstop service between San Juan and Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands, a major step forward for tourism on the island.

It’s the latest addition of scheduled service for Tradewind, which has carved out an enviable position serving some of the Caribbean’s most luxurious getaways: St Barth, Nevis, Anguilla, and more. The carrier is particularly beloved for its regularly-scheduled service between San Juan and St Barth, a route that has become the most glamorous way to get to the French Caribbean island.

Now, it has added Virgin Gorda, a jet-set destination in its own right but also a crucial jumping off point for many of the private-island destinations in the area, like Richard Branson’s Necker and Moskito islands, among others.

The new service will kick off on Nov. 16, 2023, just in time for the peak winter travel season.

Tradewind will be operating multiple round-trip flights on Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with additional flights during holiday periods.

Pricing will begin at $128 one-way, plus taxes and fees.

It also opens up Virgin Gorda to the wide range of careers that serve San Juan, including Tradewind’s interline partners like United Airlines and American Airlines.

“We are thrilled to introduce our unique service to access one of our favorite destinations in the Caribbean,” remarks David Zipkin, Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer at Tradewind Aviation. “Our new scheduled service to Virgin Gorda opens up a world of opportunities for our clientele and local hospitality partners, and will boost travel to the island. Virgin Gorda has long been a top destination for our private charter clients, and we’re looking forward to making travel to one of the Caribbean’s most beautiful islands easier than ever.”

While the flights are regularly scheduled, visitors get the benefit of Tradewind’s bespoke lounge in San Juan and a modern fleet of Pilatus PC-12 aircraft flown by two pilots with air conditioning, a comfortable pressurized cabin and ample room for luggage.

All guest enjoy complimentary snacks, wine and beer on board; the company also operates exclusively carbon-neutral flights, purchasing carbon offsets for each flight.

The new Virgin Gorda flight is part of a broader growth push for Tradewind that includes plans for a soon-to-debut base in South Florida that will mean easy private charters to The Bahamas.
