Colombian carrier Avianca has officially restarted its most popular route to the Caribbean from the United States: service from Miami to Cartagena.

Avianca is now operating regular service again to Cartagena, the historic beachfront jewel of Colombia’s Caribbean coast.

That includes five weekly flights between Miami and Cartagena, operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Avianca’s other service to the Caribbean, a nonstop route between Santa Marta, Colombia and Miami, also restarted this week.

That route is running twice each week, with service on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

“We’re very pleased to have such a significant expansion in routes, which will ensure we’re well prepared for the summer months, a period of heightened demand historically,” said Rolando Damas, Avianca Airline’s country officer in the United States and sales director for North America, Central America and the Caribbean. “We remain committed to our goal of providing unparalleled convenience and accessibility for non-stop flights to Latin America.”

Cartagena in particular has seen a wave of tourism growth over the last few years, attracting large hotel brands and renewed investment.
