Air Canada is adding more flights this winter to one of the fastest-growing hotspots on the Caribbean Basin: Cancun, Mexico, in what is a significant expansion of service.

The carrier is ramping up flight service from Montreal, Vancouver, Halifax, Quebec City, Toronto and Edmonton to Cancun for the peak winter travel season, Caribbean Journal has learned.

That includes a total of three weekly flights from Halifax to Cancun, up from two last year; 14 weekly flights between Montreal and Cancun, up from 11 last year; four weekly flights from Quebec City (one more than last year); and one more weekly flight from Edmonton, meaning a total of three flights each week.

From Vancouver, Air Canada is adding three additional weekly flights, meaning a total of seven flights each week between Vancouver and Cancun.

The biggest expansion to Cancun is in Toronto, where Air Canada will now be operating 21 weekly flights to Cancun, an increase of 10 weekly flights compared to 2022.

“We are seeing strong, ongoing interest for winter leisure travel, and as the leading carrier from Canada to popular sun destinations with up to 683 weekly flights planned this winter, we are thrilled to add exciting new services from Toronto and Montreal to the Caribbean and Mexico and significant increases from our Vancouver hub in response to pent up demand,” said Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President, Revenue and Network Planning at Air Canada.
