In Barbados, The Art of the Adults-Only All-Inclusive Vacation

By: Alexander Britell - May 19, 2023

They gather here every night just before sunset, rows of guests waiting to see if they can spot a green flash. Sunsets on the Platinum Coast of Barbados, you see, are a little different. They are an event.

Because there is something about the light here on the far southeastern edge of the Caribbean, something about the horizon, something about Barbados.

And whether you’re looking to find that perfect moment when the setting sun hits the water, or just looking for your perfect beach getaway, this is the place: The Club, Barbados

The 160-room resort is Barbados’ premier adults-only all-inclusive resort, set in the heart of the celebrated West Coast of the island.

The Club, part of the Elite Island Resorts portfolio, is right in the heart of Holetown, just down the road from Sandy Lane, about as perfect a perch as you can find on the fabled Platinum Coast of the island.

It’s a rarefied mix of Barbados’ timeless elegance and energetic fun, with a broad slate of amenities and an endless menu of activities that mean you’ll never lack for something to do or somewhere to explore.

It starts on the calm, white-sand beach, where you can head out on one of the resort’s new transparent kayaks or on a stand-up paddle board or Hobie cat.

You can get a treatment at the outstanding Tranquility Body and Soul Spa, or spend an hour at the state-of-the-art fitness center.

At night, savor dinner at Enid’s or (the aptly-named) Sunset Restaurant; then there’s the piano bar, the resort’s post-twilight town square, part of a rich schedule of regular, live entertainment at the property.

The sunsets hit different here.

There’s just always something to do here: tennis and cooking classes and dancing and mixology lessons and sugarcane journeys through the rums of Barbados.

It’s a bit like your own private all-inclusive club, with a community of Caribbean aficionados and those who love the beach life. You’ll develop your routine, whether you grab a latte at the Coffee Shop then venture out to Holetown fo some shopping and then come back for a dip in the pool and a late-afternoon paddle.

The beachfront setting is hard to beat.

Every day is a different permutation, a different Barbados adventure.

That is, until the sun starts to go down, when you gather at the Beach Terrace and look out to the horizon.

You may even spot a green flash.
