Drawn to its luxury hotels, secluded beaches and vibrant culture, American travelers are flocking to the Caribbean island of Grenada.

Grenada is one of the hottest destinations in the Caribbean right now, according to new data from a regional trade organization.

The island has seen a 39 percent improvement in visitor arrivals from the United States market this year, compared to the same period in 2019, before the onset of the pandemic.

It’s a major boost for an island that continues to be one of the more sought-after getaways for in-the-know travelers.

Increased demand for the island has led JetBlue Airways to ramp up its capacity on regular service to Grenada, expanding from an Airbus A320 to a 200-seat Airbus A321 for the entirety of the summer season — through September 5.

Grenada’s success is a testament to the leadership of Petra Roach, the chief executive officer of the Grenada Tourism Authority, who took over in the role in 2021 and has helped steward the island’s recovery.
