Angela Bassett Just Spent Her Caribbean Vacation in Antigua and Barbuda

Oscar-nominated actress Angela Bassett just spent a beach-filled Caribbean vacation in Antigua and Barbuda. 

Bassett, who was joined by her sister, D’nette Bassett and close friend Dawnn Lewis, came to the twin-island destination after a busy awards season that included the Oscar nomination for her role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. 

The group’s trip including everything from Antigua Sailing Week to a stop in Barbuda, where they dined at Nobu and explored Discovery Land Company’s new Barbuda Beach Club resort community. 

“Antigua and Barbuda offered me and my friends everything that we could have wanted and more. I needed a break after a busy season filming my TV show and multiple projects and I’m leaving feeling rejuvenated and inspired for my upcoming projects,” Bassett said. “From the friendliness of its people to stunning beaches and lush topography, I was able to experience the escape I needed with best-in-class service. I can’t wait to return and introduce Antigua and Barbuda to more of my family and friends.”

Bassett’s storied career has included a pair of Golden Globe Awards, two Oscar nominations and seven primetime Emmy nominations. 

She is perhaps best known for her star turns in films including What’s Love Got to Do With It (where she played Tina Turner), Rosa Parks in the Rosa Parks Story and How Stella Got Her Groove Back, among others. 

They were welcomed by Antigua Prime Minister Gaston Browne and Mrs. Browne, who were joined by Tourism Minister Charles Fernandez, Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority CEO Colin James and USA ABTA Director Dean Fenton, with a conversation that included opportunities for promoting Antigua and Barbuda tourism and potential partnerships with Bassett’s production company, Bassett Vance Productions.

Bassett is the latest celebrity to make their way to a destination that has been among the hottest places to visit in the Caribbean in the last few years.

That includes legendary actor Robert De Niro, who is developing a resort with his Nobu Hospitality brand on the island of Barbuda.
