Chile-based airline SKY is launching a new route to the Dutch Caribbean island of Aruba in the second of this year, Caribbean Journal has learned.
The carrier will be operating flights between Santiago and Aruba’s Queen Beatrix International Airport.
The launch follows what Aruba airport officials called “several years” of talks with the carrier.
SKY operates routes across South America, including Argentina, Peru, Brazil and Uruguay.
The airline has not yet announced which aircraft it will using for the route, nor the frequency.
It’s another boost for Aruba, which has strong visitor numbers from the South American market. SKY is the latest in a series of carriers to add or launch new routes to the island, including Colombia’s Avianca, which is adding new flights from Medellin to Aruba this summer.
