In Bonaire, a Must-Visit Caribbean Villa Resort

“Everything is easy.”

That’s not just an observation at Bonaire’s new Grand Windsock resort. It’s practically the property’s corporate philosophy.

At Bonaire’s first full-fledged villa resort, making things easy is the priority, beginning the moment you land at Flamingo International Airport.

This is a very different kind of resort for Bonaire, even on an island that has long attracted sophisticated, independent-minded travelers who favor apartment-style units.

Because this is Bonaire’s first true villa resort, with a mix of luxurious condo-style units and standalone villas, many with their own private pools.

30 of the villas have their own private pools.

And it’s a luxury villa resort, where the focus is on having your own space, on privacy, on high-level service.

That means, for example, you don’t have to get your rental car at the airport: the hotel has its own fleet of more than 50 cars, meaning the hotel picks you up personally from the airport and you can get your car right at the hotel.

It means there’s a “spa” — where the treatments are delivered right inside your villa.

There are 42 villas in all, along with 30 condo-style apartments.

It means you can pre-stock your villa with whatever you want, before you even get to the property.

“We really try to utilize the size and privacy of the villas,” says Charles Vos, the general manager of the resort.

There are a total of 72 units: 42 standalone villas, 30 of which have private pools, along with 30 condo-style apartments ranging from two to three bedrooms.

space
There’s space everywhere.

They’re all crisply designed and eminently comfortable, whether you’re in one of the capacious apartments or the rarefied villas.

There’s also a beach club, appropriately called “The Beach,’ and a pool bar with terrific food, too.

It’s the kind of resort more and more travelers are looking for — that perfect cocktail of independent living and hotel service, where you can explore the island to your heart’s content or take advantage of the island’s great markets and make dinner in your own kitchen.

The property includes 30 villa-style apartment units.

Across the Caribbean, that kind of optionality is in increasingly high demand.

“It’s very unique,” Vos says. “It’s the first real villa resort in Bonaire.”

It’s a bespoke villa resort, one where every experience is custom-tailored to the kind of Bonaire vacation you want to create.

Ideally, as easily as possible.

“No is not an option,” Vos says.
